A Peek Into Bedtime!
Bedtime can be so stressful. Sleep regressions, teething, stalling, downright refusal… Whether you bed-share, or your little one sleeps in their own bed, both can be challenging. Bedtime was a struggle in our home until we got into a routine, and I’m sharing that with you in the hopes that we can make your night a little easier, too.
Notes from Real Life! Monday, May 21st, 2018.
It’s no secret that touch is critical for a child’s emotional and cognitive development, studies show that it even changes brain waves in the direction of relaxation. So, our bedtime is heavily focused on touch!
All the littles in our home love the water, and so bathtime at the end of the night is the perfect gentle shift into bedtime. We try to keep it calm to promote sleepiness, but sometimes it’s nice to make it a little fun! These Unicorn Glitter Bath Bombs are made with pure essential oils, organic coconut milk, and skin softening clay. They have biodegradable sparkles in them that make the bathwater glitter and each contains a treasure at the end.
Brushing your baby’s hair stimulates all the little follicles, increasing blood flow and subsequently promoting hair growth! If you use the right brush, it even gives baby a gentle scalp massage which is immensely beneficial to your baby’s central nervous system. So even if your baby has just a little bit of hair; brush away! The RHOOST brush + comb is entirely plastic-free, made from renewable bamboo, in stark contrast to the plastic sets you find elsewhere that may contain harmful toxins. The soft bristles are perfect for cradle cap, and delicate baby hair.
All babies can be so different when it comes to teeth. Arya and Margot are only 10 days apart, yet Arya has 6 teeth (and counting!) while Margot has a whopping 0. Even if your babe has no teeth, there’s no harm in establishing a healthy oral hygiene routine early! A plastic toothbrush may seem like an inconsequential thing to throw away, but ion average, one person throws away 4 toothbrushes a year…that’s a lot of plastic sticks piling up in our landfills and oceans. the future is bamboo toothbrushes are eco-friendly, 100% biodegradable, and antimicrobial. And they’re ADORABLE.
We are a cosleeping home, so most nights are spent snuggling until the babies fall asleep. Before we nailed down our routine, bedtime could sometimes take hours, and we’ve gotten it down to 45 minutes! I’m not saying this will work for you, but if you’re struggling with bedtime; know that if we can do it, you can do it.
Sending Sleepy Vibes your way!
