Natural Halloween: Face Paint + Treat Recipe

Looking for a natural and easy solution to upgrade your child’s Halloween costume? Or maybe just a fun fall creative activity to do with your little one? How about some eco-friendly face paint and a homemade Halloween treat?! We have you covered here at Ecopiggy with our wonderful natural face paints made locally, here in Ashland, Oregon, with simple ingredients from nature that are completely non~toxic and safe to use on delicate young skin, and clean up with gentle soap and water.

The face paints come in a kit that includes 6 colors (in individual jars) and 3 applicator brushes. They are very easy to use, even for the novice!

A few of our favorite tips are:

  • Fill a shallow bowl with water and dip the applicator brush into it to thin the paint as you are applying it.
  • Practice a few times when you’re not in a hurry to discover how this new medium works!
  • If you or your child has dry skin, apply a thin layer of moisturizer to the skin first.

Healthy Halloween Treats

We love the simple ingredients and health benefits of the Paleo protocol. It’s a way of eating that eliminates grains, legumes, dairy, and sugar, and emphasizes healthy vegetables and low-glycemic fruits, healthy fats and animal proteins. This is a very allergen friendly diet, safe for almost everyone!

Here’s a great Paleo recipe for sweet treats that can be enjoyed by littles and adults alike! Adorable food-grade silicone candy molds in the shapes of pumpkins and leaves can be found online. For Halloween, you can add a bit of carrot powder (or pure carrot juice) to enhance the color to a rich orange hue.

Lemon-Raspberry Gelatin Gummies

Serves: 24 gummies

  • ¾ cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • ¼ cup grass-fed powdered gelatin

-Place lemon juice and raspberries in a blender and blend on high until completely mixed. Pour into a saucepan.

-Add the honey and gelatin and whisk together. You will have a thick paste. Turn the heat on low, and continue to whisk the mixture for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes thin and everything is incorporated. Take off the heat.

-Pour into silicone molds or a small baking dish. Set in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up.

If you used a small baking dish as a receptacle, cut into bite-size squares. Otherwise, remove gummies from their molds and enjoy!
